The
U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Nonproliferation Graduate Program (NGP) is a
graduate internship program for students interested in exploring a career in nuclear nonproliferation.
The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration
(DOE/NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation and is administered by Argonne National Laboratory.
Participants selected for NGP are either first-or second-year graduate students
with academic specializations in International Affairs, Political Science,
Economics, International Business, Science and/or Engineering, or a combined specialization in Science
and/or Engineering and International Affairs. Students are required to
participate on a full-time basis for the duration of the Program. Students may apply for either a
domestic or foreign practicum. Current domestic placements are in Washington DC,
while current foreign placements are in Russia, Kazakhstan, or Ukraine. Students
interested in pursuing a foreign placement must be conversationally fluent
in Russian, Ukrainian or the foreign language appropriate for the identified
